The M16L Long-Thread Cable Gland is a heavy-duty cable gland designed for thicker enclosure walls and a wide range of common controller and electronics cables. With a 5-10 mm cable range, M16 x 1.5 metric thread, and 15 mm long threaded body, it provides more thread engagement than many short-body PG-style glands.
It is a practical choice for pixel controller enclosures, remote receivers, outdoor electronics, power-cord entries, plastic ammo cans, and other thicker-wall cases.
Available individually or in convenient 10-pack and 25-pack quantities.
- M16 x 1.5 metric thread
- 15 mm threaded body length
- 5-10 mm round cable range
- Approximately 16-16.5 mm mounting hole
- Manufacturer-listed IP68 rating when properly installed
- Black nylon body with rubber sealing insert
- Ideal for thicker plastic enclosure walls
Why Use a Long-Thread Cable Gland?
Many common PG7, PG9, and PG11 cable glands use relatively short threaded bodies and thin locknuts. On thicker plastic enclosures, that can leave very little thread available for the retaining nut.
The M16L uses a longer 15 mm threaded body, providing more thread engagement through thicker enclosure walls and a more secure installation.
It also uses a heavier body, larger sealing nut, thicker locknut, longer internal seal, and robust clamping fingers compared with many lightweight hobby-style glands.
5-10 mm Cable Range
The broad 5-10 mm cable range makes the M16L useful for many of the cables commonly found in controller and enclosure builds.
- xConnect-style pigtail cable: commonly around 6-7 mm OD
- 16/3 outdoor power cord: commonly around 8-9 mm OD
- 14/3 SJTW power cord: commonly around 9-10 mm OD
Always measure the actual outside diameter of your cable before installation because jacket dimensions can vary by manufacturer.
Designed for Thicker Enclosures
The 15 mm threaded body works well with thicker plastic enclosure walls and can provide better thread engagement than many standard cable glands.
Typical applications include:
- Weather-resistant controller enclosures
- Plastic ammo cans
- Apache-style protective cases
- Pelican-style hard cases
- Thick-wall plastic junction boxes
Smaller Mounting Hole Than Many PG11 Glands
The M16L provides a broad cable range while requiring a relatively compact enclosure opening.
- M16L mounting hole: approximately 16-16.5 mm
- Typical PG11 mounting hole: approximately 19-19.5 mm
A smaller enclosure opening leaves more material around the gland and can be useful when space between components or cable entries is limited.

Installation Notes
- Use one round cable per gland.
- Measure the outside diameter of the cable before installation.
- Cables larger than 10 mm OD should use a larger gland.
- Not intended for flat cable, loose individual conductors, or multiple cables through one gland.
- Install the sealing washer against the enclosure wall where appropriate.
- Tighten nylon components securely without over-tightening.
