A working cloud setup connects the right EZRGB account to the right player folder, delivers the intended layout and songs, and plays them on your actual display. Check those stages separately so a green connection indicator does not become your only test.

Reviewed October 29, 2026, with EZPlayer 0.6.12 as the current public release. Begin with installation and first start if the application is not installed.

1. Prepare the account and folder

Use the EZRGB account that owns or manages this show and its assigned sequences. Choose permanent storage on the show computer for the layout, sequence files and audio. A new cloud-managed show can begin in an empty folder.

If you already maintain a local xLights layout, first decide whether you want cloud content added to that existing arrangement or intend to move layout management to EZRGB. These are different choices. A registered local show can keep its local layout in charge. See the official explanation of the two cloud arrangements.

2. Register a new cloud-managed show

  1. Launch EZPlayer and choose Connect to EZRGB Cloud.
  2. Select the permanent show folder.
  3. Open the registration link displayed by your own player, or scan its QR code with another device.
  4. Sign in to the intended EZRGB account and complete the player claim.
  5. Return to EZPlayer and confirm registration completes. Open Cloud to watch the layout and content arrive.

Registration belongs to a show folder. Reopening an already registered folder reuses that association. A local installation can register later through Cloud → Register Player or Settings → Cloud. Follow Registering and Getting Started (Cloud) for the current screens.

3. Read the layout-owner indicator

Scroll sideways to see all columns.

Cloud master EZRGB supplies the layout to the player. Maintain the layout in EZRGB. A later sync can replace local layout edits.
xLights master The local show folder supplies the layout; cloud content can still sync. Maintain the local xLights layout, then use the documented upload/sync workflow when cloud rendering needs the new layout.

The Cloud screen offers Sync Layout + Content for cloud-managed shows and Sync Content Now for xLights-managed shows. Switching management mode is a deliberate configuration change. Save a working backup first and decide which layout should survive the next sync. Reference: Cloud status and control.

4. Check the connection, then the content

Cloud connected confirms communication. In Cloud Content, inspect the particular sequence you intend to test. A sequence still being prepared or downloaded is not yet a playable result.

  • pending / rendering: EZRGB is still preparing the files.
  • downloading: the files are transferring to this player.
  • installed: the sequence is ready for the Songs library.
  • disabled or error: check the show's assignment or expand the item to read the reported problem.

Use the matching sync button after a deliberate change, then watch the result. Repeatedly pressing it does not correct a wrong account, disabled sequence or unresolved download error. The sequence-delivery guide explains readiness and the checks for missing content.

5. Understand a paused or delayed sync

If the player reports Cloud Paused, use Resume Cloud when you want cloud activity to continue. Also inspect Settings → Cloud for the polling schedule. With scheduled polling, content waits outside the allowed windows; selecting that mode without any allowed windows suspends content polling.

That makes “the player is visible online” and “new files are downloading now” different checks. Read the reported connection, the allowed sync window and the individual content status before changing registration. See cloud polling settings.

6. Test the downloaded show

Open Songs, find the installed test song and verify its identity. Play it from the Jukebox, inspect the preview and listen through the intended audio output. Then use the controller connection guide to confirm the real props follow the correct models.

Next, create a small playlist and a short schedule window you can watch from start to finish. Record the layout mode, player version, playlist and successful test date. Cloud delivery has done its job when the content is installed; your rehearsal proves the complete installation.

On EZRGB, open your account's EZPlayer → Manage Player to reach the remote interface. Remote control needs a registered, online player with cloud activity running.

The private player-control link contains the Player ID and grants control to its holder. Keep that link with authorized operators. Use the separate audience-facing show page when sharing a URL with visitors. See viewer requests and remote access and the official control-link guidance.
