EZRGB & EZPlayer Guides

Plan the display, prepare its content, and run the show with a clear path through EZRGB and EZPlayer. Start with the equipment and files you already have, then build toward a repeatable show-night routine.

Three jobs in the EZRGB system

Part of the system What you use it for Your next guide
EZRGB Light Show Designer Plan a display in the browser using a house photo and props. Plan your display
EZSequence Apply EZRGB sequence content to your layout and review the mapping choices. Check the layout mapping
EZPlayer Run the stored show, organize songs and playlists, schedule playback, and manage supported show functions. Install and start EZPlayer
Local xLights content or optional EZRGB cloud content feeds EZPlayer, which sends lighting data to network controllers and audio to the selected output.
EZPlayer runs the library, playlists and schedule on the show computer. Verify both the physical lights and the audience audio path. Open the diagram at full size.

EZPlayer has its own local workflow and optional cloud connection. It sends supported network lighting data to controllers; the controller still drives the physical pixels. Read the official EZPlayer overview and current downloads for the platform requirements and supported output protocols.

Documentation baseline: these Mattos guides were reviewed on October 29, 2026 against the published EZPlayer 0.6.12 release and current official documentation. Version-sensitive behavior is identified in the relevant guide. The screenshots are credited documentation examples; use your own show names, addresses and settings.

Choose the starting point that matches your show

Local setup

I already have an xLights show

Start with the working show folder, controller configuration and rendered files. Prove one sequence before adding the rest of the library.

Cloud setup

I am using an EZRGB cloud show

Follow player registration, choose the intended show, and check that the required content has arrived before planning unattended playback.

If you have not installed the application, begin with installation and first start. Keep your working show files together while you establish the new playback arrangement.

Plan the display and its sequence mapping

Use the Light Show Designer

Work from a useful house photo, record the props you own, and review the physical cable and mounting plan alongside the visual design.

Build a library and a nightly routine

01 · Library

Add songs, FSEQ files and audio

Pair the correct files, understand single-song and bulk import, and catch missing or mismatched media before show time.

02 · Playlists

Build playlists you can operate

Create clear groups for your opening, main show and closing. Give every item a deliberate role and test the order.

04 · Operate

Check audio and run the evening

Confirm the actual listening path, compare planned and active playback, and use a repeatable opening and closing check.

Connect controllers and add useful features

Connect EZPlayer to the lighting network

Check addresses, output protocols and channel assignments. Follow the Baldrick example and distinguish playback support from detailed controller-management support.

Plan backgrounds and integrations

Add a clear purpose for each background or automated action, review release-specific behavior, and test the interaction with the main show.

Keep a recoverable setup

Record your working configuration and software version, preserve the complete show, and rehearse recovery before making seasonal changes.

For the physical controller, connectors and output power, continue with the Baldrick Learning Center or the guide for your exact hardware. A successful software preview does not verify the wiring or the electrical load.

Find the next useful check

When a show stops behaving as expected, record what still works. Can you open EZPlayer? Is the song in the library? Does the controller's own test light the prop? Does the symptom affect every song or just one? Those observations help separate a file, schedule, audio, network or physical-output problem.

Use EZPlayer troubleshooting to work through the relevant stage, then keep the result with your show record. For an account, rendering or cloud issue, include the exact show or sequence identifier when contacting EZRGB support. For a Mattos hardware order, include the controller package, pixel type and output details when you contact Mattos.

Take the plan to the show computer

Download the EZRGB planning pack: an editable workbook and printable setup, playback, schedule and recovery checklists. Use the examples as planning records, then enter your own tested settings.

The worksheets are operating aids. Configure the application through the controls described in the guides and verify the result on your own installation.
