Precise Haze. Fast Clear. Total Timing Control.
Aurà™ Whisper is the fast-dissipating formula in the SurgeFX Aurà haze fluid line. It produces a crisp, fine haze that enhances light beams and creates atmosphere — then clears out quickly when the moment is over. No lingering fog clouding your next scene, no residual haze drifting into the wrong act.
This is the formula for situations where timing matters: theatrical lighting cues that need haze for one moment and clean air for the next, dance productions with rapid scene changes, photo shoots where you need the effect in one frame and not the next, and laser sequences where haze needs to appear and disappear on command.
Water-based, non-toxic, zero residue, unscented. Made in the USA. 1 gallon (3.78 liters).
What Makes Whisper Different
All Aurà water-based formulas produce fine, even haze that enhances lighting. The difference is how long the haze stays in the air. Whisper is engineered to dissipate quickly — it gives you the visual impact of haze (visible beams, atmospheric depth, laser definition) and then clears, giving you a clean stage for the next cue.
This matters most when haze is a tool, not a constant. When you need it for one moment — a reveal, a laser burst, a single lighting look — and then need it gone so the next moment reads differently.

Best For
- Theatrical lighting cues — Haze for one scene, clean air for the next. Quick transitions without lingering atmosphere from the previous look.
- Dance productions — Haze that enhances a number and clears before the next piece. Critical for productions with varied lighting looks.
- Photography & film — Atmospheric haze that you can introduce and remove between setups without waiting for a room to clear.
- Laser shows & sequences — Define laser beams sharply, then clear the air for the next effect or for clean visibility.
- Quick scene changes — Any production where the atmosphere needs to reset between moments.
- Venues with sensitive detection — Lower-density, fast-dissipating haze is less likely to accumulate and trigger smoke detection systems (always test with the venue first).
Which Aurà Formula Do You Need?
The SurgeFX Aurà™ line includes three water-based formulas and one oil-based formula. Each produces fine, professional haze for lighting enhancement — the difference is hang time and machine type.
| Formula | Base | Hang Time | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aurà Whisper ← This Product | Water | Short / fast | Cued effects, quick transitions, photo/film |
| Aurà Elemental | Water | Medium / balanced | General use, DJs, churches, events |
| Aurà Essence | Water | Long / persistent | Concerts, clubs, sustained atmosphere |
| Aurà Pro | Oil | Very long / dense | Touring, film, oil-based machines only |
- Need haze that clears fast? → Aurà Whisper (this product)
- Need all-purpose haze? → Aurà Elemental
- Need haze that hangs for a long time? → Aurà Essence
- Have an oil-based hazer? → Aurà Pro (not compatible with water-based machines)
Will this work in my haze machine?
Aurà Whisper works in water-based haze machines only. Check your machine's manual or spec sheet — if it calls for water-based haze fluid, Whisper is compatible. If your machine requires oil-based fluid, use Aurà Pro instead. Using the wrong fluid type will damage the machine.
Is haze fluid the same as fog fluid?
No. Haze and fog are different effects that use different machines and different fluids. Haze produces a fine, even mist that stays suspended and makes light beams visible. Fog produces thicker, more visible clouds of atmosphere. Do not use haze fluid in a fog machine or fog fluid in a haze machine. For fog fluid, see the Nebula™ fog fluid line.
How fast does it dissipate?
Whisper clears significantly faster than Elemental or Essence. The exact timing depends on room size, air circulation, HVAC, and how much haze you've put into the space. In a well-ventilated room, haze clears within minutes after you stop the machine. In a still, enclosed space, it lingers somewhat longer but still dissipates faster than the other Aurà formulas.
Will it trigger smoke detectors?
Haze can potentially trigger smoke detection systems, especially particle-based detectors. Whisper's fast-dissipating formula produces lower-density haze that is less likely to accumulate to triggering levels, but it is not immune. Always coordinate with the venue and test before the event. Many venues can temporarily disable or zone specific detectors for production use.
Does it leave residue?
No. Aurà Whisper is water-based and leaves zero residue on surfaces, equipment, costumes, or instruments. No oily film, no sticky buildup.
Is it safe to breathe?
Aurà Whisper is non-toxic and unscented. It's safe for indoor use in venues with normal ventilation. As with any atmospheric effect, prolonged heavy exposure in a poorly ventilated space can cause mild throat or eye irritation in sensitive individuals. Use reasonable ventilation for extended runs.
How much do I need?
Consumption varies by machine model, output setting, and room size. A typical water-based hazer running at moderate output uses roughly 1 gallon per 8–20 hours of use. Haze machines are far more fluid-efficient than fog machines. One gallon goes a long way.
Can I mix Aurà formulas?
We recommend using one formula at a time for consistent results. If switching between formulas (e.g., Whisper for one show, Elemental for another), flush the tank between switches. Do not mix water-based and oil-based fluids under any circumstances.
Whisper Is a Precision Tool
Unlike sustained-haze formulas that you set and forget, Whisper rewards deliberate, cued operation. Trigger the hazer for a specific moment — a lighting look, a laser sequence, a dramatic reveal — and let it clear naturally. The fast dissipation is the feature, not a limitation. If you find yourself running the machine continuously to maintain atmosphere, you likely want Elemental or Essence instead.
Work With Air Movement, Not Against It
HVAC and air circulation speed up Whisper's dissipation — which is usually what you want. If you need haze to clear faster between cues, position fans or open HVAC zones strategically. If you need haze to linger slightly longer for a particular moment, reduce airflow in the performance space temporarily.
Coordinate With the Venue on Smoke Detection
Before any production using haze, contact the venue about their smoke detection system. Most professional venues have protocols for atmospheric effects — they may disable specific zones, switch to heat-based detectors, or require a fire watch. Do this during planning, not during load-in.
Position the Hazer Upstage or Offstage
For most theatrical and performance applications, the hazer should be positioned out of the audience's direct view — upstage, in the wings, or overhead. This lets haze fill the performance space evenly while the machine itself stays hidden. For even distribution, aim the output across the stage rather than directly at the audience.
Less Is More
Haze is most effective when it's barely visible on its own — you should see the light beams it reveals, not the haze itself. Start with low output and build up. Over-hazing a room makes it look foggy, reduces visibility, and defeats the purpose of using haze instead of fog.

Can I mix Aurà formulas?
Use one at a time. Flush between switches. Never mix water-based and oil-based.
💡 Tips
- Cue it, don't sustain it — Whisper is a precision tool. Trigger for a moment, let it clear. Need sustained haze? Use Elemental or Essence.
- Use airflow to your advantage — HVAC/fans speed up clearance between cues.
- Coordinate smoke detection — Contact the venue during planning, not load-in.
- Hide the hazer — Position upstage, in wings, or overhead for even distribution.
- Less is more — You should see the light beams, not the haze itself. Start low.
