DIY Basic Sasquatch™ MegaTree™ Kit
We can handle it. We’re professionals.
The DIY Basic Sasquatch™ MegaTree™ Kit gives you the core hardware you need to build a serious MegaTree without shipping a giant pile of steel across the country.
You source the basic square tubing locally. We give you the parts that actually make the system work.
It’s the same Sasquatch™ system we use and literally field-test in real installs — built to go up, come down, get serviced, and do it all again season after season.
What’s Included
-
Sasquatch™ Sliding Topper – choose 32, 48, 64, or 96 hole
-
MegaTree Pulley Cap
-
Pulley Cap Cover
-
Star Mount
That gives you the core lifting system for your DIY Sasquatch™ MegaTree™.
NEW Updated 64-Hole Topper
The 64-hole option has been updated with our new 16" precision laser-cut topper design.
We pushed the limits of the laser-cut design to create cleaner, more precise mounting locations that help keep your MegaTree strips flat, tight, and evenly spaced.
The updated 64-hole topper features:
-
64 precision-cut strip mounting locations
-
Approx. 16" diameter
-
Designed to keep strips flat for a cleaner-looking tree
-
Optional holes for J-hooks or carabiners
-
Black powder-coated finish
-
Designed for 2" x 2" square tubing
-
Integrated bearing block system
-
Bearing block assembly designed and authorized by Lipich Engineering
If you select the 64-hole option, this is the topper that now comes with your kit.
Sliding Topper Sizes
Choose the topper that works best for your MegaTree:
-
32 Hole: Approx. 11"
-
48 Hole: Approx. 13"
-
64 Hole: Approx. 16" – NEW updated precision-cut design
-
96 Hole: Approx. 18"
You do not have to use every hole.
That means the same topper can be used for different 180°, 270°, or 360° MegaTree configurations, depending on how you want to build your display.
Built to Raise and Lower
The Sliding Topper travels up and down your 2" x 2" square MegaTree pole, allowing you to assemble and service your lights closer to the ground instead of trying to do everything at the top of the tree.
Pair it with the included Sasquatch™ Pulley Cap and your hand winch for controlled raising and lowering.
Build it.
Raise it.
Run the show.
Bring it back down when you actually need to work on something.
That’s the point.
Approved Bearing Block Design
The bearing block assembly used with the updated Sasquatch™ system is designed and authorized by Lipich Engineering.
This is the bearing block configuration that has been approved for use with the Mattos Designs Sasquatch™ MegaTree™ system.
Warranty & Modification Notice
The Sasquatch™ system is designed and tested around approved Mattos Designs components and the authorized Lipich Engineering bearing block configuration.
-
Unapproved aftermarket modifications are not recommended
-
Mattos Designs cannot verify the strength, fit, or operation of parts we have not tested
-
Using unapproved modifications or aftermarket components may affect your factory warranty
-
Modifications that change the lifting, pulley, topper, or structural system should only be made with components approved for the Sasquatch™ system
We build these systems around parts we have actually tested.
Because guessing is a terrible engineering strategy.
What You'll Need to Add
The following items are not included with the basic kit:
Main Pole
Use 2" x 2" square steel tubing.
Cut your main pole to your desired MegaTree height plus approximately 6 inches to allow for the topper and pulley-cap assembly.
Four Base Legs
Use 2" x 2" square steel tubing.
We recommend a minimum of 5' per leg, depending on your tree size and installation.
Hand Winch
You'll need a compatible hand winch for raising and lowering the Sliding Topper.
Our Sasquatch™ systems are commonly built around a 1200 lb hand winch.
Base Hoop
The base hoop is not included with this DIY kit.
You can fabricate your own or use one of our Sasquatch™ MegaTree™ Hoops for a complete Mattos Designs setup.
Don't Want to Fabricate the Main Pole?
No problem.
You can also build your MegaTree using our Mattos Designs Modular Pole System instead of sourcing and fabricating one long piece of steel locally.
Totally optional.
If you have a good local steel supplier and know your way around a drill, local steel works just fine.
Why the DIY Basic Kit?
Because not everybody needs us to ship them a complete MegaTree.
If you can source the basic steel locally, this kit gives you the important parts of the Sasquatch™ lifting system while saving you from paying to ship a bunch of heavy square tubing.
You get a system that's:
-
Heavy-duty
-
Serviceable
-
Expandable
-
Built for outdoor displays
-
Available in multiple topper sizes
-
Designed around proven Sasquatch™ components
-
Built for people who actually plan on using the thing
This is the DIY starting point for a real MegaTree.
Build it once.
Build it right.
We can handle it. We’re professionals.
